Situated in South Vancouver's historic Oakridge neighborhood, the current Columbia Park and surrounding context has been identified by the City of Vancouver as a key location for redevelopment to enhance the resiliency and livability of the city.
Our design, Oakridge Park, reflects both the past and present identities and narratives of the Oakridge community. The concept aims to weave together generational stories, while creating space for future community members to shape and establish their own stories as well. This is achieved through the integration of mosaic design elements across the site, comprised of the thoughtful reuse of materials - from wood and bricks left of former structures, and broken glass and titles from windows and ceramics, to replanting front and back yard plants from residents' yard, our design uses materiality to establish a unique sense of place, honoring the area's history and connecting the community.
